Monday, December 12 — The correspondence between Overall Course Scores and grades will be as follows (with course scores rounded to the nearest integer):
- A: 100-93
- A-: 92-89
- B+: 88-86
- B: 85-81
- B-: 80-78
- C+: 77-74
- C: 73-70

Final Exam Results and Overall Course Scores
Thursday, December 8 — The final exams are now graded and the scores posted to Blackboard. The class average was approximately 58.9 (out of 71). Good work, everyone! Solutions are now available (over in Exams), in case you're curious about the solutions to some of the trickier problems.
I've also calculated and posted (to Blackboard) each person's Overall Course Score. This is the weighted average of the quizzes, midterms, and the final. This score is not your grade, but it is the score from which your grade will ultimately be determined (after I decide on how the scores will be curved). I'll post the score-to-grade breakdown (i.e., the curve) in the next few days.
If you would like to double-check your Overall Score, you can compute it as follows:
- First compute your average quiz percentage. This is done by first dropping your lowest non-extra-credit quiz score, adding up the remaining seven scores, and dividing by five (since two of those remaining seven scores were for extra credit). This gives you your average quiz score. Divide this number by 16 to get your average quiz percentage.
- Divide your Midterm 1 score by 48 to get your percentage on that midterm.
- Divide your Midterm 2 score by 39 to get your percentage on that midterm.
- Divide your Final Exam score by 71 to get your percentage on that exam.
- Your Overall Score is then given by: 20%*(Quiz Percentage)+ 25%*(Midterm 1 Percentage) + 25%*(Midterm 2 Percentage) + 30%*(Final Exam Percentage)
